J. Whirler Books of Portland, Oregon, a bookstore specializing in children's and pop-up books formerly operated by bookseller Trevor Blake, went out of business in 1999. At that time, former Head of Western Michigan University Libraries Special Collections, Tom Amos, contacted Blake and purchased over 1000 books of his remaining stock, many of which were pop-up and moveable books, as well as miniature books.
